"I feel good, I like playing here in Stuttgart," said Paolini after the match. "The first match on clay can be difficult, but I am satisfied." She also reflected on her performance at the same tournament last year, where she lost to eventual champion Elena Rybakina, and expressed optimism about her new coaching relationship with Marc Lopez: "It’s our first tournament together, and we still need to get to know each other better. We'll see how it goes."

From the start, Paolini controlled the tempo, breaking Lys in the fourth game to take a 3-1 lead in the first set. Despite brief resistance from Lys, Paolini closed the set 6-2 with precise shot-making and strategic play.

The second set followed a similar pattern. Paolini broke early to go up 2-0 and extended her lead to 4-0 before Lys managed a break of her own. However, it was not enough to shift the momentum, and Paolini wrapped up the match 6-1.

In the next round, Paolini will face German player Jule Niemeier, who advanced after a hard-fought 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory over Laura Siegemund. The upcoming matchup is expected to be a tightly contested battle, with both players aiming for a deep run on the clay courts.

Elsewhere in the tournament, Jana Fett produced a notable upset, defeating Donna Vekic 7-6(2), 6-4. Vekic continues to struggle with consistency since the Australian Open, making the loss especially disappointing. Other top players in the draw include Emma Navarro, who will soon meet Beatriz Haddad Maia in a highly anticipated encounter.

With early-round surprises and top-seed showdowns, the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix is already delivering drama and high-level tennis. As fans turn their attention to upcoming matches, the road to the title in Stuttgart remains wide open.
